Coparent Family Counseling

Natalie Wetzel-Rasmussen provides "Coparent Family Counseling" (for families who have separated or divorced parents who share separate homes with their child/ren) and "Collaborative Reunification Counseling" (for separated or divorced parents who have been estranged from their child/ren and want to re-establish a relationship with their child/ren).

The process to qualify for this therapy is:

  • Families are recommended to me by guardian ad litems during a court process
  • Parents both call the clinic to set up their, and their child(ren)'s initial mental health evaluation (each family member is typically seen once for their initial evaluation as part of the larger "family evaluation").
  • If family members have insurance, then insurance is billed, otherwise, they are charged the rate of an initial evaluation.
  • Below are 2 examples of each type of contract for both types of counseling for kids and adult children (for Collaborative Reunification Therapy), which are sent to all family members involved and can be tailored for each family.
  • Part of the evaluation of the family includes a determination if all family members are appropriate to participate in the family counseling process. The larger family evaluation includes contact with collateral sources, such as teachers, doctors, social workers, counselors, guardian ad litems, etc.
  • Once the evaluation is completed, and when the family is accepted into treatment, then they begin the next step to develop their treatment plan, including steps in the implementation of the plan and time frame. When a family is not determined to be appropriate for this type of treatment, they are informed why they weren't accepted, then are provided recommendations and referrals.

I have specific training in these two areas, and am the only counselor who provides this treatment. Now that all clients will shift to being seen online, only older kids/teenagers and families who can meet online will be accepted.
